Hello-- I live in MN. I had been looking to adopt from Belarus when they closed their program for "restructuring." I am seeking to obtain footage of children adopted from Belarus, along with some verbal exchange I could have translated to Russian. The sole purpose would be to use this as a means to try and persuade the Belarusian officials that the orphans adopted by Americans are living full and meaningful lives here in the US. I would appreciate any assistance in this endeavor. Thank you for your attention to this matter! Heather

Hello Heather,
I do not live in MN but I have adopted from Belarus, so I do not no if this is an answer to your question or if you are looking for something specific to MN.
It is a requirement of the Belarus adoption process that we send post placement reports and photographs. We were required to send bi-annual reports and photos for 3 years post adoption, now with the "re-construction" we send annual reports and photos for a longer period of time. We have received this info from our agency since the 1st of the year. It sounds like the adoption process with Belarus is actively being worked on.

Hello. I understand that the government is revamping & I have heard about the new requirements. My contacts have political connections and one of the things that seems to keep coming up is that despite the post adoption updates they're skeptical. My contact has the ear of someone close to the President there. She believes that the footage of these adopted children, handed over by her, may put this "issue" to rest once & for all.
Would you like this footage sent to you so you could send it off, or would you like it sent off to the Belarussian Embassy? I personally know four children from Belarus and their adoptive families who live near by.The thing is, Heather, the president of Belarus is raving mad. I go there for the summer, I have friends there... I can say firsthand that he is not all right. Also, the Belarussian government works different from America's--- they try to be as exact and punctual with laws, but it's more like a game for them: a game governed by money. Any footage they recieve will probably never reach them; if it does, it very likely would not matter because it's not about the welfare of the children (if it were, then they would actually take care of their orphans... they would feed them and clothe them properly, among other things)--- it's about trying to look all right when really the country is too messed up to function properly.Ah, well, such is this world. All we can really do is hope and pray, it seems.
Oh, believe me I've heard about the political climate & I can appreciate the passion in your writing. As far as the orphanages you mentioned, I really want to know where you could steer me. I can't change the world, but seeing it for myself gives me that much more drive to make some changes. As for the filming, I envision doing this in-person so that my Belarusian friend & I can present this "first hand". Does this make sense? Thanks for your well wishes. Something is driving me and I hope this all pans out for all involved!
