Are you coming to a rally on Friday? I am in the process of writing to Good Morning America, they ran a story this morning on Meth in Franklin County Missouri. We can keep picking these kids up and placing them in foster care but if no one will adopt them what then. I'm sorry I know at one time I remembered where you were in Missouri but it has sipped my mind, are you in Springfield?

Thanks I would love to know how it goes. It was quite interesting listenting to the senate debate th other night. They were getting pretty lippy with one another. I hope we can turn this thing around, since it passed through the senate we really have to fight hard.
Talk to you soon, thanks for the update.

most kids are title IV-E eligable, but most kids in gardianship care are not. also if a mistake was made at the time of adoption, ie a box was not checked making a child IV-E eligable, you cannot go back and correct that mistake, they will never be IV-E eligable. kids whose family of origin is not at or below the poverty level at the time of removal and adoption may not be IV-E eligable either.
what everyone one can do is sign the petition and write personal letters to gov. blunt and any local legislators! rally for these, kids, if we don't it is only a matter of time before this goes from state to state.

Just wanted to thank everyone who has signed and KEEP signing!! They are still researching, but believe our kids will be affected. If we lose daycare I can no longer afford to work, and I carry our families insurance :( ....the good news  ...ALL my kids will then qualify for MC+ and we will then be in the income bracket to qualify for subsidy.
So, MO may be saving money on our 2 adopted children, but in the longrun they will be losing money on all 4 of our kids  ......CRAZY!!
Anyone heard anything new regarding the Adoption subsidy program being cut in Missouri?? I've been considered for a Missouri sibling group and am concerned about the subsidy program... I heard it was only going to affect kids who were not IV-E eligible at the time of removal from their birth family... is that so?? Interesting...
Now that cuts to Missouri's adoption subsidy program have been passed by
>> the
>> General Assembly, we have ONE chance to soften the blow before the
>> legislative session ends on May 13th. This chance is in the form of
>> HB970,
>> which:
>>
>> 1. Increases the means test to 300% of the federal poverty level, but
>> ALLOWS subsidies for kids ALL who are special needs
>> 2. Maintains Medicaid and daycare for ALL children
>>
>> However, HB970 will have to be "fast tracked" in order to get this done
>> by
>> the end of the legislative session. The only person who can make this
>> happen is the Speaker of the House, Rod Jetton. So please, please call
>> or
>> e-mail him by Monday, saying: "Speaker Jetton, please fast track house
>> bill
>> 970, the adoption assistance bill."
>>
>> His phone number is 573-751-5912 (messages left on his answering machine
>> are
>> fine) and his email address is Rod.Jetton@house.mo.gov
>>
>> We'd like to have 100 folks from across the state contact Speaker Jetton
>> before Monday...so please spread the word! This is our only chance!!
