Hi, everyone! I'm hoping someone has heard some good news, so that all of us can get a boost! We just found we were accepted (Feb. 7), but not officially registered yet. How long does it take to actually be on the referral list???
We switched from Ukraine, so it's been over a year since beginning the process. I'm becoming very skeptical that it's EVER going to happen. I could use some encouragement from anyone out there who's willing to give it. Anyone else feeling disappointed? Heard any encouraging news lately? Also, if we're are moving into a new home, do we need to go through the hassle of having our homestudy updated now? Or should we just wait until our referral? (If that EVER happens??) Thanks in advance, and good luck everyone!
Anna (from Arizona)
When I was registered in October the dossier and other documents had been accepted in late September. This was after translation by the Bulgarian attorney and her staff. What she told me was that it takes about 2 to 3 weeks after acceptance to be registered. So I would give it a couple of weeks remembering that this is Easter Week and Europeans tend to gear down for a while.
Based on other posts, I am feeling enthused again about the process and told my boss this afternoon (who adopted from Romania over 20 years ago) that I hope to travel in early summer. Thank goodness Mary is supportive of me in this! Dana

I think you should wait to update your homestudy untill it is going to expire, a referral from Bulgaria could easily be 20 months away and you dont want to update now and then have to update again. I kow it's frustrating- I used to think "why don't more people adopt there are soo many orphans out there who need a home"- but now I wouldn't reccommend adoption to anyone! it's an emotional roller coaster! It helps to keep reading posts by people who have already adopted and are so happy-looking at their beautiful children makes me remember why I'm doing this! I'm also switching counties and it's no fun to start over with the paperwork, good luck
