Hi!We are a couple with two bio children looking to adopt special needs child. We are hoping for an infant. Open to White, Asian, Hispanic, Asian/white, hispanic/white. We were told by a social worker that they wouldn't place an african american here because there aren't many that live in this county. Anyway, has anyone ever adopted an AIDS infant? We are looking for a premie, premie with drug or alcohol addiction, a child with congenital heart defects (that is our passion), or an HIV baby.Where did you go to get placed with these 'types' of children? Was your wait long? How has it been since you received your child?Any info would be great.!ThanksMichigan Mom

Have you searched any of the online adoption exchanges?
I saw some toddlers on the below link that had special needs
NWAE.org - Children in foster care awaiting adoption in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska. | Northwest Adoption Exchange
Below is another site that has a huge listing of children
adoptuskids
I hope this helps.

Michigan mom-My boys have many of the issues you mentioned. Found them on websites people mentioned - also try comeunity.com - look for blue box, bottom left - special needs - then list of photolistings. Shows group photolisting sites as well as individual states. As for HIV/Aids kids, there are a couple in NJ and FL I know about. You might try Jim Jenkins in AZ, he runs a group called aidskids, that's the name of their website as well. They try to place HIV/AIDS kids. (Feel free to PM me for specific HIV/Aids kids, I know where a few are on the websites.)Your SW's comment that workers won't place AA or biracial kids w/you because you don't live in a diverse county - that's not always true, especially for the high special needs kids - both of my sons are AA and we live in northern MN, so just because your SW feels that way doesn't mean outstate SWs feel that way, too. Just don't give up. It takes awhile. If you can't take it, special needs adoption is not for you. It's HARD, but the kids are worth it! Sandy
