Amended Birth Certificate

I have a question.

The adoption was granted and finalized a couple weeks ago.

We are wanting to get his name on the birth certificate, so they told us we needed to get an amended B.C.

How do I get it? Where do I go?

Who told you you needed to get an amended B.C.? Usually when there is an adoption you take the court order of the adoption to the county recorder and have them amend it. I'm not sure why your having problems.

The amende B.C. is done with the social worker in our county however You should have a court order to change it. I was told you have to send the info to sacramento to get the amended cert.

I'm sorry, I foreget not everyone lives in Sacramento like I do. Your right though you have to send it to Sacramento to be changed. And remember it could take up to a year for the change to actually take effect. Believe me, I just found out that my baby's name was changed and the ex got the court order to do it 2 years ago.

You could also call or go down to your county recorders office and ask them about it as well. If there is any paperwork that needs to be done they will have it.
