....actually, back in the day when is was first being diagnosed they said kids grew out of it around the time they hit puberty....
then you have a growing group of people that say ADHD doesn't really even exisit, it is just there to make drug companies money, and perhaps children should be made to sit hour upon hour in school, and maybe school environments need to be reorganized to met each child's needs, ....etc.....
when you get older you learn the importance of organization, etc... and if ADHD is real, then you probably would learn ways to life around it....
adoption wise though, many kids in foster care settle down once the have a forever home

I'm not sure if you grow out of it. Our son has ADHD and we're definately learning what we need to modify to make things work for him. He's homeschooled and does amazingly well. I really think it's a matter of changing his working environment to suit him. You'd be surprised how much little changes can help. Organization does play a huge part in it. BTW, he's not medicated so we're always working naturally.
Assuming that the diagnosis is corrrect, so we will ignore those cases in which the child is misdiagnosed with ADHD when the child actually has another cause of attention problems (such as sensory-integration disorders, bipolar disorders, etc), No one does not out grow this biologically based disorder, just as one does not out grow diabetus. The disorder is a disorder of the brain in which there are problems with neurotransmitters. That is why "speed" calms down a child with ADHD but would make one without ADHD anxious, nervous, and hyperactive.
