This board is extremely quiet and I am not sure why. It seems like there are always people viewing the board, even if there are no new messages. I would love to jump start this board and try to get some interest going in it. I would be interested to hear where everyone is in the process and would especially like to hear from people who have traveled recently or who are getting ready to travel.
We are hoping to travel later this year. We have a son that we adopted from Kherson in 2001 and are in the process to adopt a little girl from Ukraine. We just got our INS approval and are going to get our documents translated next week. We signed with our agency in July 2004 and it's been a long slow process so far. Hopefully things will speed up a little bit now. We would like to travel in September or October of this year, but I don't know how reasonable that will be, maybe a little ambitious.
Jane
Jane,
You are right about Sept/Oct being ambitious/optomistic. Based on what others have been getting and that they were already giving out July/August appts in Feb & March, I would bet more like early 2006.
As for your "where" I am question. I am post-adoption with 4 Ukrainian children adopted in 2001, 2002, and 2003. Process has changed from the first adoption to the last, but not alot since then so feel free to ask whatever you like.
Best wishes

Dear Jane,
Yes, this board has been quiet! We're still waiting on our INS approval. It's been six weeks since we were fingerprinted. From what we're hearing the approval should come within the next 2-4 weeks!! (I'm in NJ)
My husband Matt and I are hoping to adopt two or even three siblings in the 3- 6 age range. But we're open to any and all possibilities. We're going to try to remain as flexible as possible.
We chose Ukraine because my Mom was born there!
Good luck on your journey. I hope to start reading many posts about receiving registration letters and dates to travel!
Lisa S.
Hi Lisa
We were pretty lucky with our INS approval. We are in Missouri, I took in our home study on May 1, got our fingerprint date on the 13th and the approval on June 2nd. I hope you hear something soon.
We are going to submit our dossier to our agency early next week for translation and will hope we don't have to wait too long to travel.
Jane
Does anyone know if your agency as to be accredited to work in the Ukraine as it does in Russia? Thanks!
Agencies are not recognized in Ukraine, so even if you use one over here, it's the facilitator in country that does everything for you and you're really doing an independent adoption in Ukraine.

Jane,
If this isn't the funniest thing, I received the I171H approval yesterday!!!! You must be my good luck charm- thanks!!
So, now it's off for translation, maybe we'll travel at the same time!!
Lisa
Hi,
My husband and I are in process of finishing up with getting the last of our documents apostilled. We received the 171H about 1 week ago. We're hoping for a son under the age of 2, and are open to taking a young sibling group since we always have hoped to have 2 children anyway!

We officially began collecting paperwork, homestudy, etc. on Nov. 3, 2004. Our dossier was submitted (after 2 months of waiting) on May 10. Last Friday, June 10, we received our registration letter. We are asking for a September appointment date. We also would would like a boy under two. This will be our first. We are so excited!

We will be leaving this Sunday to complete our adoption process. We began in January 2004 and have had to completely redo our dossier.
We are approved for up to three children, and are hoping for twin sons - you can follow our trip if you like at
