concerta for PTSD?

Hi all,

Has anyone ever heard of Concerta being used for PTSD.

My son's friend who is in care takes it and foster mom says it's for those symptoms.

He does have ADHD too. Foster mom supposedly has some medical background, so I'm thinking maybe there is just something I've never heard of (using Concerta for).

Haven't heard of concerta used for that. A was misdiagnosed as ADHD and was on STraterra/Remron. BAD combo. We were NOT impressed. But I'm happy so say... he's 3 months medication-free and seems to be doing fine!

i never heard of concertta being used for PTSD, you mentioned the child has also ADHD which concerta is used for.

maybe your friend got it mixed up.

just like to mention, ADHD, and a flew of other dx, all look the same if a child has PTSD.

its tough to fnd the right DX with children with PTSD.

just thought id mention that. a child with PTSD, might not have ADHD.

my son was also dx with ADHD and put on ritalin...because they all look the same.

guess what? he doesnt have ADHD...the ritalin was probably not the drug he needed to be on.
