I am single and 33 and have decided to do international adoption. I plan on initiating the process in 2-3 years when I am financially more ready. (I just bought a house 4 months ago and have all of the usual first time home owner costs to go with that.)
I would like to adopt 2 children at the same time (infant and toddler). I have read some books and articles that suggest this route for singles who know that they want 2 children. They cite reasons that there might be some cost savings, the country adoption rules may change before you can adopt another child, and so on.
I have been reading the threads from the different groups on this website and have not found many success stories of international adoption of 2 children at once. Are there people out there that had a good experince with this? That were able to bond with both children?
I am a single parent and have adopted 3 children at once at two different times from Ethiopia and Haiti. I have had some problems with two of the children but that was not related to the timing of their adoptions but rather older child issues. My sister also adopted 3 at once.Having seen what happens in Haiti and now Russia etc I think it's definitely something to consider.

I have heard several good stories about singles adopting multiple children from Vietnam.
My sister and I are both hoping to adopt from there next year :)
Good Luck in find the right situation
HI.... My friend adopted a sibling set from Russia (twin girls, age 8 years old) and are doing wonderfully. Yes.... very challenging, and everyone I know had suggested a sibling set for me too. I didn't have a choice when it came down to it. I entered a Summer Hosting Program late, and after 2 different little girls already had paperwork out on them, I was sent a little girl 7 1/5 years old. That was last summer (July/August 2004), and I brought home FOREVER my daughter on January 25th, 2005! We are perfect for eachother.... I am sure if I had hosted sisters... it would have worked out the same, but this was meant to be with my daughter. Oh, and what you have been told, it is alittle easier from the get go to do ALL of your paperwork for 2 children.... i.e. home study, etc., and as ALL know, especially in Russia, the RULES are changing every day and sometimes every hour!!!!
