I'm new to the forum. New to adoption (well, not really new, I am adopted) And I am single.
Just looking for some support and/or advice.
I have decided to adopt. I'm pretty sure I want to international. And I'm leaning towards Ethiopia. Are there others here who are doing this or done it? Any advise? What agency? Concerns homestudy agency will have?

For agency information or country information, you should post on the Ethiopia forum on the international adoption section.
I will try to talk to the homestudy questions. She will ask what kind of support network you have. Who do you have to help you in a jam - friends, family, etc. You will need to prove you have enough income to support the child. She will ask what your daycare plans are. You do not have to have this decided, but you should be able to talk through options you are considering, to show you have put some thought into this. She will want to know why you are leaning toward a certain country, why you want to adopt, family history, your personal history etc. She will walk through your home, and point out how it should be baby-proofed. She will be your advocate, so do not get scared. She will need to show the judge in Ethiopia why you should be allowed to adopt.
Also, it is a good idea to shop around for your homestudy agencies. They vary quite a bit in how much time they take to complete the adoption, how much paperwork is required, etc. So, ask:
- Fees
- Time to completion
- Copy of the paperwork they will require from you,
Good luck, and post back if you have any other questions.
