My birthmother gave me up for adoption years ago.
My question is do i have any rights regarding her estate?
thanks for your help.
I don't know if it is anything like British law but an adoptee doesn't have an automatic right to their birth mother's estate here as these rights are terminated when the child is adopted. However if there has been a provision made in the will then probably yes but check this out anyway.

No.. unless she named you as somone she wanted to get part of her estate.. This was very explicite in our adoption.. our son has ALL right to our estate and NO rights to his bio parents estate.

I have to say I agree.. Your adoption terminated all legal rights, including inheritance. Unless you were specifically mentioned in a will.
It works the same way with termination of parental rights. Once that occurs, a bio parent is no longer legally responsible financially or otherwise for the child.
It depends on what state you are in. In Ohio you may have rights, but as I found out, in Mo, you don't. But I did end up with some of my aunts estate? Imagine that. This was from MO. No one fought it.
