MAT Assessments looks @ the child, the FP and the Bios. The report suggests what services are needed for the child as well as the Bios. I know our Bios tend to ignore request to participate in the process so the report will include very little from their point of view. Getting ready to go through our 2nd, the process has been really eye opening. I've discovered more about our BioParents and their issues as well as discovered available resources to help our sibling set. Now I know another FM who had the opposite situation. Her MAT Assessor immediately decided she would work against RU after one meeting. And its weird because all young children are placed in concurrent homes so we know RU is a real possibility.

Lotusmama, thanks for the insight. Do they go to the parents' home? Or only if the parents' participate? This isn't mandatory, then for the parents?

The mat assessment is for all parties involved including foster and bio parents. Unfortunately not all bio parents want to participate. The mat assessors cannot make bio parents participate. I've had some bios participate and some that haven't. Hope this helps.
