Hi there,
I have not been on this forum before because I am still gathering my paperwork for an international adoption from Guatemala, and I can only absorb so much information at a time! So I apologize if this has been covered in previous posts. I did a search and couldn't find anything.
I have just completed my home study and did not bother to file my I600A yet because in NY you can't get fingerprinted until the home study is done. However, unexpectedly, my agency called me with a referral on Thursday! They are twin boys, have been referred to two other families prior to me, and are about 4-1/2 months old. My agency knows I have been praying for twin boys, so they are willing to stretch my timeline a bit in order to get these boys home.
My questions:
- What timeline have people in NYC been experiencing from application to fingerprinting and from fingerprinting to 171H approval?
- Any advice about how to speed things up? I am going to include a note with my application explaining the situation, but wondered if there are any strategies that anybody can suggest.
Again, sorry if this is a repeat of topics you cover all the time - I didn't think I would be wandering over to this corner of the forum for awhile!
Thanks a ton in advance.
Holding on for dear life,
Susan
