Does anyone know of an agency that specializes in adoption from the Philippines? We spoke to Holt who informed us they placed only 16 children from the Philippines in the US last year. Any recommendations? We live in CA.
ICAB (Philippines Inter Country Adoption Board) recommends the 4 agencies listed in California:

We used the one in Los Angeles (Vista Del Mar). Director Marcia Jindal is very knowledgeable about the Philippines.

I would not rule out an agency b/c they've only placed 16 children last year. The PI only places a couple hundred children a year and that number has to be dividend among a lot of countries (US, Austrailia, Norway, Germany, Canada, to name a few) and then a lot of agencies. Compare that to China which places thousands a year. Call several agencies - even the ones out of state - ask questions - call referrals!! You do not have to use a CA agency for the placement (probably just for the homestudy though).

Just a quick answer, my wife and I adopted from Phi. and just came back with our wonderful boy "Carlito" 2.5 yrs old. We used Hand in Hand and our process took 18 months, they are based in Indiana, so it was out of state for us since we were in Florida (and moved during the process to Arkansas)
We were happy with the process, you do need to ask lots of question so every step is clear for you.
Well, good luck! I'll try to post about our process with more detail soon. Gil
The Philippines is a small program so most agencies don't have LOTS of referrals. You can use a placement agency out of California as long as you use a homestudy in California. I live in California and am using Wide Horizons for Children as my placement agency.
