OK, I know I should not be this prepared but Maggie's room has been ready for a while. Now I have an appointment date, I feel like I am semi-legitimized in posting pictures!!! Jane

I am an animal lover.....and I very much like the idea of introducing animals to children.......
I have animal motifs and statuary in my house, also....monkeys, lions, swans, elephants, frogs, rabbits, dragonflies, butterflies....etc......
Maggie's Place....seems beautiful and comfortable.....what a lucky child she is!!!!
..ps...thank you for your PM....Olga
Yes, it's Noah's Ark, I have always loved that theme and it lasts for longer than some of the more baby motifs in rooms. Since we have no idea how old Maggie will be when we get her, I figure we're safest with something a little less specific to babies. We had the same for Ben when he was a baby, so we're just using the same crib set etc. We have moved to a new house since then, so I had to start again. Our neighbour stencilled animal footprints around the top of Ben's room, I am hoping she'll have the time to do the same in Maggie's room before we bring her home. I read in a book somewhere that animals are the reason that children talk. I guess it's true, children do have an affinity with animals and it's easier for them to make the animal sounds than words. Our new Child will be called Maggie Elizabeth, if Ben hasn't worn out the name before we get her!!!! Jane
Jane!
How beautiful!!! I think the theme will work perfectly no matter how old Maggie is (love her name too!)
I'm glad you posted pictures because this is something constructive we can all "talk" about while we are waiting!
I'm doing an ABC theme in my room because I'm not even sure what gender or age my kid(s) will be!
I purchased a Ukrainian alphabet book and will make color photocopies of the pages, then I'm going to hang the letters with the English equivalant next to them around the room, like a border.
I just cleaned the room out over the weekend and will paint in the next week or so, maybe I'll post some pictures too.
I can't wait to see a picture of Maggie in her new room!!

Lisa I was in pottery Barn Kids at the weekend and they have a kit you can buy with letters that can be framed. I think there's something like 108 letters in a box, different colours and styles. They come in 2 sizes, you might want to check them out, they are pretty cool. I don't know if they'd work for you or not. Have you thought about stencilling? That would be cool too!! I can't wait to see pictures of your finished room. You're right, it's a good thing to keep you occupied while you wait. Jane
Hi Jane,
I thought about doing stencils, but then I thought, what if I come home with an 8 or 10 year old (we're very flexible on age) and then the alphabet theme is too childish?
I will definitely check out the letters at Pottery Barn.
I saw a kid's room done where they painted a wall with a magnetic paint (like primer, then with the colored paint painted over it) the kids could then stick things to the wall with magnets. I'm thinking of doing the same thing, just a "stripe" of the magnetic primer around the room, then I can print the letters on heavy card stock, maybe even laminate them, then attach them to the wall with magnetic tape.
At least that's the plan this week!!
I'm definitely channeling my inner Martha Stewart these days
:)
