I gave up my daughter at birth in October of 1973. She was born at the Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO and the adoption was handled by the Jewish Adoption Agency in St. Louis.
I would love to find her
Where have you registered? Have you registered with the State of MO Adoption Reunion Registry?
A birth index would greatly help you, then you could determine an adopted last name.
Searches can go quickly or draw on for years just don't give up hope. Only yesterday I located a ** for an adoptee who had been searching for over a year.
I live in St. Louis and if there is any "leg work" I can do for you let me know.

Call Division of Family Services 573-751-3221 and ask about the Adoption Reunion Registry. They will send out the necessary forms. If your birth daughter has or has not registered they will let you know.
I also wrote to the Family Court that heard the adoption and obtained copies of any paperwork that I had signed. There were no leads but I did want those papers and sometimes you an get a "lazy clerk" who happens to put in the adoptive parents info.
Have you contacted the Jewish Adoption Agency? Maybe she has or maybe they will help you, I do not know I have never worked on a case involving them.
You should really get the birth index for the date of birth it will cost about $52.50 unless they raised it again. The index lists all the births for that day but you simple eliminate all boys. Then eliminate ethnic last names, ie I doubt that a Chinese family would adopt a white child.
I have never seen an index but I do know that many adoptees/birthmothers have and have had success.
