I just got a notice that the Gov. has signed two bills introduced regarding foster parents.
The first one give us the right to use our own judgement in hiring a babysitter. The do not have to be other foster parents or licenced day care providers. They do not have to be fingerprinted, have CPR training, or foster parent training. Example: Your mother, sister close friend etc.... can now babysit for you without having to be fingerprinted!!!!!
The second one has to do with adopting a child placed in your home. If I understand it correctly, If you express interest in adopting a child you have been caring for and have yourself declared as the prospective adoptive family (I know I am not wording that correctly, I accidently deleted the email I received regarding this), and TRP has happened, there has to be a hearing before the child can be removed from you home if Social Services decides to place the child elsehwere. This is my attempt to give you the "gist" of it. I could be missing something. You can probably check on the California Foster Parent Association web site to get the information.
