I am a Caucasian female who was born July 27, 1978 at General Hospital in Louisville, KY, during the afternoon. My birth mother never looked at me before giving me up for adoption. Here is some of what I know about her:
- Born in 1957
- 5'5", average build (at time), brown hair, brown eyes
- German descent
- Has a younger sister
- Working as a waitress while in college
- Parents were separated in late 1970s
I have more information than this, but if there's a potential match out there, I will ask more pointed questions to prove that the person is who she says she is.
I am also ISO an older half-sister who would be about 30 now, but she may not know about me.
Do you know her her birthdate? Was she born in Kentucky? If so, I think it might be pretty easy to find her. If you had her birthdate and if she was born in KY, we could at least find all females who were born in KY on her b-day. I know that may seem like a lot of people, but going from thousands to 100 or less people on a list that you know your b-mom is on, it's a great relief and really helps with the search. If you do have that info, I would love to help you in any way I can. It may not be much, but I could hopefully help you find some more information.

My half-sister or my birth mom? I don't know the answer to either of these for either person. I know about David Gray's website, so yeah, if I knew the exact date of birth of either one, I would have been all over it. The only stat the non-id info gave me was the year of birth of my biological parents--no exact dates or locations. :( So I can't be sure that my birth mom is even from KY. I'd imagine that my half-sister is, but the info just said that she was 2 years old. I don't know if she was that old at the time I was conceived, or at the time that the non-id info was written (about an 18-month gap there, so it would make a difference). If it's the former, she'd be 30 or 31. If it's the latter, probably not even 30.
Thanks for your offer to help, though!
I use ancestry.com for many searches but have never used the kentucky index before. SOme states, like CA, show only birth names, while tX shows only adoptive. Do you know what KY does? What is your adoptive last name so I can see which way you show up.
I'm sending you a PM with girls born on your dob with sisters born 18 months prior.
From what I've researched, KY only shows adoptive names. I'm able to access Ancestry.com for free through work, but it still didn't tell me anything more than what I already knew. KY does have books that list all births, whether or not the child was adopted, but they only go up to 1969. :( Since I was adopted immediately after birth (my birth mother never even looked at me), I'm pretty skeptical that I show up with any other sort of name.
I will check that PM. Thanks!

Hi Dana,
Odds are it's not the same woman. I'm pretty sure that I was my bio-mom's first child, given the situation. The half-sister was on my bio-dad's side. Thanks for responding, though!
