I am currently a first year MSW student at Columbia University's School of Social Work and I already have a BA in Psychology. I REALLY want to work in international adoption, but I am having difficulty finding available jobs, especially because I am specifically looking for a summer position. I would be in debt to anyone who could help me in my search; even some advice on how to go about looking for a job would be more than welcome. (I'm secretly hoping someone who works for an adoption agency will read this and contact me with a job offer!!) Please, I really want to work in this field and I would appreciate any help I can get.
Thanks!
Rena
What about Monster com for the summer job your looking for. I have been told that the usually have lists of jobs for the summer. Also maybe contact Brandy who works for this site, she might be able to point you in the right direction. Best of luck.
God Bless,
Summer

I am new to this site and have very similar questions as everyone else. I am also a college student looking towards a job in adoption as a career! I've seen the great advice people have been giving but I am not aware of what a BSW and MSW are? Could anyone fill me in? I'm trying to figure out the best direction to take my schooling. Right now i'm working on spanish classes (although i've had 4 years) and also psychology classes with an empahsis on child psychology, hopefully on the right step!! So if anyone could fill me in on the BSW and MSW that'd be great, and also anyone who could recommend any good schools? Not sure if there really are, i mean a social worker degree is pretty average but just wondering (anything in the IL, WI area would be great!) thanks much!!! :flower:
You asked what a BSW/MSW are.... A BSW is a Bachelors in Social Work, MSW - Masters in Social work. Depending on the work you want to do in adoption, these are good degrees to have. If you have an MSW you can do anything from a coordinator on down. Hope that helps.
