I was recently introduced to a web-site ( precious.org) the children's pictures are there, for adoption in a number of various Angencies. Do people actually go to that web-site, look through the photos and ask for more information,, and has anyone ever gone through an adoption in that manner??
Karen.
I was curious, and thought that people looking to adopt actually, can look at available children to adopt, through pictures provided by Agencies. I am not sure how I feel about that!

It is Illegal in some countries but it is for my families eyes and personal opinion a way to find some children with special needs or older a family. Personal experience; Our soon to be daughter's info was provided by the site listed above. :-)
Choosing from Precious.org is fine, but comes with risks. There are many good agencies out there, but also many bad ones. If the child you fall in love with is tied to a bad agency, you are in for a hard ride.
It is really best to:
1. Choose your country
2. Choose your agency
3. Choose your child.
Once you find a country that fits your needs, then look for an agency. Just because an agency has a great program in one country, des not mean they will be great in another country. It depends on their in country contacts, their level of experience, etc. When you do choose an agency, get references. This site is a great place to do that. Also, there are Yahoo Groups for many countries where members will provide input on agencies.

ALL 5 of my internationally adopted children came from photolistings. Child to be as well. BE careful. You really need to know what you are doing. I have had a friend bait & switched if you know what I mean. Good luck and write me privately if you want to know more and some trusted sites.
Good luck,
