If biodad has already terminated his rights through the judiciary system, a step-parent adoption should be pretty simple. Your first stop should be your law library. They usually have fill-in-the-blank forms you can fill out and file that they sell for a couple dollars. You might also need to obtain criminal background checks and a homestudy, which you will have to arrange. For the background check, your local or county police department will most likely have the proper form.
