It was suggested that I put Burt's Bees Apricot oil in Drihan's hair and I was looking for others who have done that and how did it work? Also, how did you apply it?
don't use apricot oil, we use jojoba oil, but I suspect the application is the same. we add it to her scalp after shampooing, and then when I feel her hair needs it, i add about a dime or so's worth on my palm, rub it between my palms and run fingers thru her hair. you could also add it to a spray bottle mixed with water and add it that way.
hope this helps,
Lisa

T, We have used lots of oils on dd, olive, grapeseed, jojoba. Apricot is what we have used since she was about 19 months old; it is by far better than ANY of the others (for us.) It penetrates the hair much more than the others, except grapeseed. We get hair damp then I rub it in my hand and work through. I have had many AA women approach me and give compliments and ask what I use, because dd's hair is so shiny. We also use the BB's avacodo butter, which is a great conditioner/oil combination.
Redhedded, do you use it daily? Should I use the detangler/leave in conditioner first? Drihan has extremely thick curly hair and it has to be combed everyday or it will get a mess. She also hates having her hair done so detangler works good for fast combing (20 min.).
Lisa, why do you say not to use it?
I didn't say not to use it, just that I don't :) . I like the jojoba oil for dd's hair and haven't felt the need to try and find another oil. I'm sure the apricot oil works just fine too. And I'm sure the applications of the oil are just the same.

I finally found the apricot oil last week, it worked nice but didn't detangle as well as some other lotions we've used. I like the smell though.
the worst part is that even if you find a great oil that works, it may not work when s/he's older and his/her hair changes. fun, isn't it?
maybe the apricot oil is nice for the skin, esp if it smells nicely.
I have since switched to plain olive oli because the Apricot oil was drying her hair out where the olive oil doesn't. Go figure.
I checked out the web site for Burts bees (looking for the apricot oil) and was wondering if anyone has experience with the buttermilk soap and lotion?

I use it in a couple of different ways. I have a spray bottle that is 2/3rd water and 1/3rd apricot oil. I use that as I am combing.
With little D, I use the spray bottle and dampen her hair and then spray in a detangler and comb it out.
I also have oil in a misto (the mister people use when cooking with their own olive oil) and mist it into the girls' hair to give it a shine when it is already styled.
The avocado butter can either be left in or rinsed out. I have done it both ways.

I love the buttermilk lotion, but I use it on me, not her. I use shea butter on her and also use aquafor when her face is extra dry. She needs a much thicker lotion then Burts Bees
