This my 6th child, but first AA child. What special care is needed for the skin and hair of a 8 day old baby boy?
Congrats!!!!!!! How exciting. We have not done anything special yet and our son is 2 months old. We put lotion on him every night and wash his hair with baby wash.

Congrats! We haven't had to do anyting special with Elijah'
s skin or his ( tiny amount of..) Hair. We do use baby shea butter on his skin. We were told not to wash his hair at every bath....I'm not sure if that was good advice or not. ( again, He is what his older brothers lovingly call a baldy-bean)
That's true with any newborn baby. You shouldn't bathe a newborn everyday. It's not really necessary. They're not exactly rolling about in the mud quite yet. ;)
Our son had VERY dry skin for the first few weeks. I had to lather him up with Aveno Calming Lavender Lotion (its more like a cream than a hand lotion) everytime I changed his diaper and then I would use a baby brush all over his whole body to loosen up the flakes and then relotion him. After a couple of weeks it went away and now he just gets lotioned like the rest of us.
I just tried "Pink" on his hair because the back was getting frizzy. I love it. You can buy it at any drug store, its a pretty standard black hair care product (probably a little out of date actually). It looks like lotion. You rub it into your hands and then over his head concentrating on th ends. The big secret is that it works great on dry or frizzy white people hair also!
We also love the huggies bath products with shea butter in them. The wipes too. They even sell them at Costco now.
Are you going to post a picture for us? It really would help us give more accurate advice. ;)

Shea butter is fantastic!! My dd is 8 months and is just starting to get hair. In the back, the hair is drier and frizzier than it is on the top and sides. I bought 100% shea butter from Bath & Body and it has done wonders for her hair... and my hands from rubbing it in :D
