I have checked the USCIS office regarding their timeline...I think it says October 2005....Let me see...I applied in January, FP's in February andHome Study to USCIS for 2weeks now...Seems like theyare indicating I must wait 3+ months. I would really like to just hear feedback directly from people who have used the Denver main office or Utah Sub office of USCIS and please let me know your timeframes!!! Thank you!

To help any future families from Utah who might inquire into the Archives of this website (like I have many times.).... My UTAH USCIS 171H timeline is this:Application January 27Fingerprints February 1Home Study March 8171H approval April 20. I think it would have been sooner but I had left out a piece of paper...my divorce decree. Good luck to you. I set up an InfoPass appointment the week prior to receiving approval, I think that is a great thing to do if you are a little concerned about your wait time.

Knowing that your I-171h finally came through helps me because I am extremely frustrated with USCIS. We hand delivered our I-600a (including our homestudy) on March 3. We were immediately given a fingerprint appointment, so we went and did the fingerprinting also on March 3rd. It has been 12 weeks and we are still waiting. Our SW received a call several weeks ago from somebody saying that our fingerprints were outdated and they needed us to do them again. After failing to find anybody who would talk to us on the telephone, we made another appointment, took another morning off work, drove to SLC this morning and met with the nastiest woman I think I have ever encountered. She told us that our fingerprints were fine and then basically dismissed us since we've only been waiting for three months. She said "If you had applied in December I might wonder about it, but March is nothing." She refused to give us any kind of estimate about what to expect, even though it appears that they made a mistake with our fingerprinting which I'm guessing has caused some kind of delay. Their online timeline indicates that they are processing applications received in November. I realize that the dates on the USCIS website typically preceed what they are actually doing, but I still have to wonder what is going on in SLC? Why are they so far behind everybody else? Has anybody else worked through this office?
Oh no!! We filed last Friday and were fingerprinted the same day. I am hoping it will go fast. The guy told me an average of 90 days. My caseworkers said anywhere between 2 weeks and 3 months. I am so hoping for the shorter. We waited forever for our HS background check to come back, it has already delayed us 2 months. A three month wait will definitely push me over the edge.
If the guy told you that the average wait is 90 days that could be really good news for you. Since ours is taking so long somebody else's has to go through fast just to maintain the average, right? Maybe yours will be the fast one to make up for our slow one. I've learned that nothing with USCIS is logical though so who knows. The woman who we met with apparently is the I-171h gatekeeper so I hope yours sails through and you don't have to deal with her directly. We are already drafting the letters to our congressman and senators that we will send as soon as our adoption is final. Please keep us posted on your progress. I have a feeling you will get yours back before we do and I'll need a positive report to keep my hopes up as we continue to wait. Julie
