Just thought some might want to know what the 'basics' for starting scrapbooking might be (in my opinion)
1 - A Paper Trimmer - large enough to cut at least a 12inch piece of paper
I prefer the Fiskars (cost approx $20)
2- Adhesive
Some to check

avoid - the self adhesive photo corners with paper backing - those little paper tabs can just be a real pain in the butt!
3 - A good archival journalling pen - (Cost approx $3)
4 - Decorative chalks (Cost approx $18)
5- An album you pick the size, I prefer post bound top loading albums I prefer a 12x12
6- An assortment of basic solid cardstock (don't go hog wild on pattern paper and border paper, too much of what you like at the store when you first start you will never use)
7- Small Scissors
8- If their is a particular event that you want to work on first consider a scrapbook theme kit, their are a ton of them for just about every topic Baby, wedding, adoption, heritage, etc The nice thing with these kits is that everything already matches for you !
Thanks! This will be really helpful for those just starting out!!!
Hope you don't mind if I add in a little digital advice too? I just got started on digital using a program called Scrapbookmax (www.scrapbookmax.com). It is VERY user friendly, for those that want to go that way. (I love normal scrapping, but needed multiple copies of our album so felt I had to go digital..)

Thanks! With a free trial too! I am requesting it now!
I do digital scrapping, but with a HIGH END program that is just not beginner friendly - I can't wait to check this one out.

Cool! The free trial was enough to convince me that it was a great beginning! I've been reading some message boards of digital scrapbookers and the tools these ladies use in the high end programs just astound me!!! I'm really loving the simple program and if I stick with the hobby I'll definitely want to go high end eventually - but I'm glad I started with a "scrapbooking for dummies" type program! LOL
