Hello, I am hoping to meet other new parents who have recently adopted. My husband and I are new to the adoption world. Our son is 3 months old. We adopted him at birth. We live in sunny southern California. It would be great to meet others.
Take care
Amber
Hi, just saw your post. We too just finalized a domestic adoption. We live in Southern California also. About 60 miles north of San Diego.

I live in San Diego... I adopted a boy - he's 8 now through the FC system... We're hoping and praying and wishing that we'll only be in SD for another year and move to the east coast in summer of 2007 but who knows what will really happen :)
oh - and i'm a single mom as my name states :)
We are in Orange County...We have 3 wonderful children. Our oldest son is almost 9 (bio), our daughter is almost 5 (amazing open domestic adoption), and our baby boy, who will be 3 next week (semi-open domestic adoption...becoming more open with every visit) AND waiting to be matched to our beautiful baby girl from China.
Where are you in so. cal? Congratulations on your new son...how absolutely wonderful!!!

Hi there,
I am new to this and saw y'all were talking about SoCal. I live in Rancho Santa Margarita! We are just starting the process and are still trying to decide on domestic or International, which would probably be China. "Overflowing", you just turned 30 and have already done sooo much!! That is so great!! Sounds like your domestic adoptions went well. I just keep worrying that we will get a birth mom that will change her mind. We are going to a seminar @ Nightlight Christian Adoptions in a few weeks. What agencies did you use for your adoptions?
Lbeansmom- We used Nightlight...I will pm you :) They are FABULOUS!!! Our testimony in on their website under domestic adoptions fact sheet.
We have been so amazingly blessed. I still can't believe we've been married for almost 11 years. Where does the time go? 11years later and waiting for our 4th child...we are nuts...hahaha...
One little note I will tell you about domestic adoptions and the bfamily changing their minds...there was a point where we became so in love with our bmother that if she would have changed her mind, that is what we would have wanted. We knew it would be so painful because we were so much in-love with our babies but we knew over time we would heal. And if she had placed her baby and regretted it, she would never heal from that. And we couldn't bare that. Once we had a peace with that, we were completely free to be excited about our new baby and to help be a support for our bmother's. Now, I'm not saying that we would ask her "are you sure you want to do this"...we, dh & I, decided we were going to love these sweet moms with ALL of our heart and when you do that all your concerns take the back burner.
A very wise young mother once told me "you have to be willing to take the risk to receive the blessing." This was our daughter's bmom while she was 8months pregnant with our daughter. So much wisdom!!!

Hi Everyone!
Congrats on your successes and good luck on your new journeys!
Hubby and I live in Foothill Ranch (So. O.C.). We are just starting the process and have no clue which agency/facilitator etc... to use! We are pretty sure we want to go domestic, newborn-toddler, open to race and gender.
If you hae any recommendations, I would greatly appreciate them!! Feel free to PM or e-mail. Thank you!!
I'm in San Diego, too. We are a transracial adoptive family with two kids and another one expected the end of September (another girl!). I'd love to get together with all you SoCal families, even once a quarter at a park for a picnic or something. What do you think?
I wonder where would be a good spot for a park day. Looks like we have some families in Temecula, San Diego, Ranch Santa Margartia, Brea....
any suggestions?
