Ok all you cloth diapering moms, "what are you all using in your homes right now at this very minute"?
Currently I have 3 in diapers and as it has always been, it's old-fashioned cloth flat folds, pins, and rubber pants. It's not for everyone, but it's what seems to be the best in my home.
At the moment I'm a disposable diapering mom, but I do have a question for you and others:
Do you launder your own or use a diaper service? I wondered how the services work and what types of fees there are, but haven't investigated online yet.

I don't meet the criterion of currently diapering mother (and my children prefer disposable) but in my day:rolleyes: , I used bird's eye, gauze, stretch guaze, and pre-folded. My favorite kind were the stretch guaze - they were easier to fold and fit to the baby and the stretch seemed to help. I haven't seen them in stores for years unfortunately, although I have noticed that stores are carrying more selections of cloth diapers. The only time we (DH and I used disposible diapers was when we were traveling.)
Blessings,
Kathy
With my oldest. I tried both. Disposable diapers can be costly. So I tried cloth.. that was til I accidently flushed one down the toliet trying to clean it. OOPS!
I will never forget what my daughter said when the plummer came and retrieved it from the clogged pipe. She said, "my diddy". lol.. it was so cute!
I used disposable from that point on. Even with the other two. (conveince)
We use a diaper service. They deliver pre-folds and we use covers, most of which came from friends and FreeCycle. We use disposables away from home (so for the first 2 weeks, DS was in Pampers) and now at night. We considered doing some service and some of our own, but that was before DS had a particularly messy diaper in one of our own all-in-ones.
I find the cloth to be nicer to DS's tush than the disposables are.

Hi StorkWatcher.
I have always home laundered the babies diapers. When my own children were babies and in diapers, cloth diapers, I home laundered them as well.
When it comes to Diaper Service, your looking at a cost, per month, comparable to that of disposable diapers, or very near to. Believe it or not, washing diapers at home is simple, easy, and you will get so that you don't even think twice about it.
I guess my way of thinking is if I'm washing and drying the diapers in my home, I always know first hand how many diapers I have ready at hand. That's a comforting feeling when you have 3, 4, and sometimes even 5 babies all wearing diapers at the same time.
For me home laundered cloth diapers are the answer.

Diaper services make cloth diapering the same price as or more expensive than disposables. Washing at home is easy (learn about stripping to make sure that the cloth isn't repelling).
Beyond that, we currently use Fuzzi Bunz with hemp inserts. Nick pees. A LOT. And the hemp is the most absorbant. The rubber pants don't breathe as much as cotton covers and the little man has some sensitive skin, so none of that old-fashioned stuff here. :)
My baby isn't here yet (two weeks yet) but then we will be using Kissaluvs fitteds at the beginning...not sure about when she is a little older. I've done a TON of research on cloth dipes and will be laundering them myself. There are so many place on the internet to read about it....
