Can someone suggest a good way in getting started, to find my birthmother? Obviously the adoption was closed and there is very little info out there. I contacted the agency where i was given up for adoption and they had very little to no information on her. Where else can i go for help? Years ago i tried W.A.R.M...........but i didnt find out anything! This is hard, i dont know her name..........i have a possible name...............not sure if it is right. Can i get my records from the courthouse? Like my actual birth certificate, or anything else? Can i get any records from the hospital i was born at? Or would they no longer have my records? Can someone give me some advise?
Princess.........what state were you born in? A lot of your questions depend upon the laws in your state. If you look under the "Search & Reunion" section of the forum, you can find information by state on the laws, etc................
Good luck!

Do you know your birth name, if so, I suggest you "google" it, that is how I found my name on a registry. Took all of 3 seconds.I wish you luck
I have a "possible" last name and im not sure how it is spelled. Celesky..................i dont know if it is with an S or a C or a Y or an I. So as far as that goes i think im out of luck! I have tried searching for this name.....no luck though! It's sad how adoptions were sooooo closed and disclosed NO information on the birthparents back then..........where nowaday's it can be all open!

Check this out. This is the information on this forum I was telling you about:

It appears that the State of Washington has a confidential intermediary program. Vermont has this as well. The state will appoint a CI to contact your birthparent(s) and if there is mutual consent, facilitate contact.

I am a King County, Seattle, WA adoptee. Do you know what county the adoption was finalized in? From what I've been told- usually it was the county of residence of the adoptive parents.
There are a couple of different avenues to obtain non-id in WA.
There is also some specific info that you should ASK for when applying for non-id. This tibit is not on the application paperwork. You have to write it in and request it on the forms.
W.A.R.M. didn't help you thru this process??
I'd be glad to pass on what info I've learned searching WA.
My son was born and adopted in WA state through Childrens' Home Society. Since they do have the intermediary system, they did a search for me for him. I know that WARM can do searches through CIs too. Think about trying them again or finding another CI to search for you.
WARM told me how to get a copy of my son's OBC after we were reunited. Come check out our search blog - there's alot of suggestions there about how to search if you want to do it yourself. Have you registered with ISRR? Put a consent for contact in your adoption file?
You should request your non-id from the agency too - it may not seem like much info initially, but, can help later.
