How far in advanced do you need to prepare yourself ( your body) to be ready to BF. Do you pump? Are the meds totally imperative? WOuld my OB be a helpful source, or should I contact Laleche ? ( I dont know how to spell that) Any advice will be helpful.
It depends on how you want to go about getting your milk started... some women follow a protocol that needs about a month I think it's at www.asklenore.com - or something like that, you can do a google search for it. Others just use medications that only take a couple weeks.. so it really depends. Personally, I just started when I got my baby using the supplementor until my milk came in..
Just depends on what way you wanna go.

I used the Domperidone and had milk in 2 days. Before that I was just pumping and got nothing. I was able to start freezing small amounts within a week. Everyone is different. I was glad I used the Dom. because I got my baby with in 2 weeks.
I did the www.asklenore.com accelerated protocol with the yasmin and domperidone. I took the yasmin for 42 days straight (no placebos) and started pumping on day 43. After about 2 weeks I was getting 3 ml per pumping (about 5 times per day), but was not real good about my pumping schedule. I'm still taking the dom, but haven't pumped in weeks. I still had a little milk, so I'm hoping to get back into the pumping routine. I am using a Pump In Style and it works great. You should see milk immediately if you do a protocol, but I've heard that sometimes dom is all you need. Good luck!
