My husband and I are pursuing an agency domestic infant adoption in Illinois. Our homestudy is complete and our license issued from DCFS - my question is this - the license we received from the state says "Foster Care". Is this correct? We did not do the PRIDE classes to get foster licensed because we are not interested in fostering at this time (we feel like we need to have our own children first, then we will look into providing foster care). I was under the impression that our license would state "Adopt-Only" and I don't know if I should be questioning this or not.
I have a call into our SW about it, but she tends to be slow to respond to questions since she is so busy.
Thanks!
In Illinois, you are considered a 'foster parent' for the time the child is in your home, before finalization.
So, yes, that's correct...
