My husband was born in CA. His birth mother was married to someone other than his birth father, and separated at the time of my husband's conception. There were two older half brothers between the birth mother and her husband (we believe they were married in Illinois or Michigan). We have ruled out the two brothers being born in California, so we searched for men of the right age as the brother's but not born in California. We think we have found some info. We found a man that was married in California, listed as living with his parents. The places they lived are listed as California, Illinois and Texas (all of these states are mentioned in the non id info). We are hoping someone can do a local search for us in Illinois to see if they were married in Illinois. Their names are Milton Stephen King and Sally E. We don't know know Sally's maiden name. They were probably married sometime between 1956 and 1959. The oldest son was born between 1958 and 1959. Sally was born April 10, 1941 and if she is the right person, only finished the 9th grade, and born in Michigan. Any help offered would be greatly appreciated, traveling to Illinois is not an option for us at the moment.

I don't know what county they were married in. I only have a feeling that it was the Chicago area (maybe I am just hoping). We have been able to verify that the birth mother's maiden name was Jones. We know that her married name was King. That is why we are trying to find out if Milton and Sally are the right people. If they are, then Sally's maiden name will be listed as Jones. From what I can figure, marriage searches must be done in the counties where they took place. Is it possible to run a search with just last names? Please send me a private message, because if there is any cost for the searches, I would want to make sure that it didn't come out of your pocket.
Thanks so much.
UPDATE: We got confirmation today that Lawrence Dale Stahl WAS my husband's birth father. He passed away in 2006. We were able to track down his ex wife, and he had told her about my husband!! She also gave us the birth mothers name - Linda King!! Now I am looking for ANY info I can find on her. We know that she was born in Michigan, was 22 in 1964 (making her born 1941 or 1942). Her mother was living in Illinois in 1964. She was married with two boys - one was 5 and one was 3 in 1964. Linda was adopted by her step father when she was a young child, her maiden name was listed as Jones, but we don't know if that is her fathers name or her step fathers. She also had stated to the adoption agency that her father was part Chippewa Indian. If this means anything to anyone, please contact us.
I'm sorry I haven't been on to see this! This is wonderful you've found out more information. I have no idea how to even begin to search without a name of a birthparent! I HATE adoption and feel it ought to be illegal! I absoltely HATE IT! It's SO WRONG! I'll help anyone a product of this barbaric practice! I think it's IMMORAL that a state will keep a persons own name from them! Sealed adoptions are BS!I live in the sick state ILLinois. Maybe my county has statewide records as well. I will check tomorrow after work.

Thank you!! The ex wife of the birth father thinks she remembers the birth mother's name was Linda King (this would have been her married name). Her maiden name according to the CA birth index was Jones. In a later email, the ex wife of the Birth Father referred to the birth mother's husband as Carl King (this was the name my husband was given at birth). I am not sure if these names are correct, but I do have more faith in the birth mother's name, because that was mentioned without any reference to a Linda. When she referred to the husband, it was after I mentioned my husband's birth name. I would appreciate any help you can offer.
Linda (Jones) King was born about 1942 in Michigan and was probably married some time around 1957 or 1958, her oldest son was 5 years old in 1964, making him born about 1958 or 1959. I hope this will help you narrow down the search if you are able to do one.
Thanks for checking for me!!
I didn't call today because I need to take names down on paper so I know what to say to Circuit Clerk!I PROMISE I will try my BEST! I found a girl I know from here's (who was adopted out) birthparents. She was 3 and abused and taken from them. The mother left her in scalding hot water in bath tub to go to the neighbors house. I took her to the library and she said she thought her birth last name started with a "G". I looked on the newspaper microfilm for births and used her BD to go on.BINGO! I found it! I told her the names of parents and in the phonebook I found their address. I will try to locate some helpful information for you! PROMISE!Have a GREAT night! + Ihave relatives in Springfield, the state capital! ;)
Thank you again, I so appreciate your help. I have a feeling if I can get info on their marriage it will lend itself to the rest falling into place. As I said before, I am VERY confident that the birth mother's name was Linda Jones and she married a man with the last name King. I am not sure of his first name, but it has been suggested that it is Carl. I am not sure of this, but it is a place to start. The rest, her date and place of birth I listed above, but if you need anything further from me, please send me a private message and I will be happy to share all I have.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
