I'm frustrated at the lack of financial support from the Southern Baptist Convention when it comes to helping members adopt.
It never even occured to me that the SBC would help with the finances but I think it's a good idea. Maybe they need someone to advocate for that. We can pray that God will raise someone up to spearhead this!

My husband and I tryed to adopt through the Baptist Children's Home and we were not successful. We went through a Private Adoption Agency. My grandmother's preacher was able to successfully adopt through the Baptist Children's Home. We had applied prior to their application. I do still sponser the Baptist Children's Home through my church.
I too find the lack of support fustrating.
When we first thought of adopting I went to the Southern Baptist Association website hoping I could find some kind of adoption support. I didn't find anything finacial or otherwise. It occurs to me that if we are promoting a culture of life we as Christians ought to be doing more to promote adoption and help adoptive couples.
We are blessed to belong to a Southern Baptist Church where we live that strongly believes in adoption and has a special fund for church members.
Maybe you could ask your pastor if he would mind putting your needs in the bulletin?
A great book on the subject is Daniel J. Bennett's A Passion for The Fatherless: Developing a God-centered Ministry to Orphans.
We'll be praying for you.
