I'm frustrated at the lack of financial support from the Southern Baptist Convention when it comes to helping members adopt.

My husband and I tryed to adopt through the Baptist Children's Home and we were not successful. We went through a Private Adoption Agency. My grandmother's preacher was able to successfully adopt through the Baptist Children's Home. We had applied prior to their application. I do still sponser the Baptist Children's Home through my church.
I too find the lack of support fustrating. When we first thought of adopting I went to the Southern Baptist Association website hoping I could find some kind of adoption support. I didn't find anything finacial or otherwise. It occurs to me that if we are promoting a culture of life we as Christians ought to be doing more to promote adoption and help adoptive couples.
We are blessed to belong to a Southern Baptist Church where we live that strongly believes in adoption and has a special fund for church members.
Maybe you could ask your pastor if he would mind putting your needs in the bulletin?
A great book on the subject is Daniel J. Bennett's A Passion for The Fatherless: Developing a God-centered Ministry to Orphans.
We'll be praying for you.
