I definitely need some help with this one. I'm getting mixed answers with this question. We are military and are getting ready to PCS. We are homestudy approved in our current state. Our placement will not happen until we get to our next duty station. Do we need a completely new homestudy or can we just update the homestudy with our new housing information? How fast can we expect to get this done because our baby will be placed in under a month of getting to next destination? Thanks for your help!!!!
Usually, you can just do a update to the homestudy. I would call around to some local agencies/social workers in your new duty station area. Maybe even call family support and ask if they recommend any local social workers...and maybe even call social services, maybe they can update (usually they only handle for their fost/adopt situations) but, each state is different. Where are you guys moving to?
good luck, sorry it wasn't much help :)

I would call the Department of Job and Family Services in the state you are moving to and ask them. They typically oversee state laws regarding home studies and policies. I live in Ohio and if someone moved here from another state with an approved home study, the home study would need to be redone, not updated. Good luck!
You should be able to just update your homestudy. I would be sure to go through a social worker who actually deals with adoptions, if not, they might not be licensed, and that could cause potential problems. Not all social workers can do adoption home studies.

It will help you find places who do homestudies in the state you are moving to. Then you can fill them in on the situation and see what they charge to do an update.
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PENDING PLACEMENT!!!
