Families who have adopted from the nation of Georgia, and those interested in Georgian adoptions, are invited to the 2006 Annual Georgian Reunion in Roxboro, NC. A family picnic with speaker Joan McNamara is Saturday, October 14 from 3 - 8 p.m., and additional events are scheduled throughout the weekend. Georgian items on sale and at silent auction will fund humanitarian aid to Georgian orphanages. McNamara is the author of several books on international adoption, including her latest, 'Borya and the Burp" for children from eastern Europe. Joan and her husband, Bernie, pioneered international adoption and are the parents of 13 children. Joan has created several important social work curricula, and she was tapped by the government of Ireland to help write their child welfare policy.
