need info on deceased father

I believe I found my birthfather, only he died in 1981. From the ssdeath index I found that he was born on Sept.17, 1939, and died Oct. 8,1981. He last lived in Harris county,Texas, city of Pasadena. His name was Donald Allen (or Allan) Tarver. Would anyone know of a way to get more information about him?? I can't find an obituary on line, probably because he died 25 years ago. I can't find him in the Texas birth or marriage index either. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Barb
