Does anyone know whether older copies of out-of-state birth/marriage certificates are acceptable by USCIS (Yakima, WA) for the I-600a? Has anyone had older certificates rejected? My copies are from 1989 and 1993 from New York, and I need to know whether or not to get new copies when I visit next time.
Thanks,
Jackie
I've had old copies rejected by the country from which we adopted. It's probably better to get freshly-stamped and printed copies for as many docs. as you can. You'd hate to have an adoption held up because some official was being a stickler.

Older copies should be fine for USCIS (with the I600a). I submitted my birth certificate from 1968 and it was fine.
You may need a more recent copy for your dossier, which I was able to obtain while my I600a was being processed.

If you do have any questions regarding a specific question about anything on your I-600A petition requirements, you can make an appointment through USCIS's website using the InfoPass thing for an appointment at the local immigration office and they answer questions pretty well.
Hi! Can I submit a copy like from a copy machine of my original (1978) bc? or to I have to obtain an official copy? thanks!
