There is another post on the General Adoption Support regarding an e-mail sent to Dateline - so that spurred me to write my own. It reads as follows: Dateline Writers, There are many of us adoptive parents who - years later - are still trying to finalize our adoptions. But we have birthparents who have filed to stop or reverse adoptions which creates a stalemate - in my case four (yes 4!) years. If you come to forums.adoption.com and look under "Failed and contested adoptions" you will find the most horrendous adoption nightmares where there is not allowed any resolution even years after the adoption - and in each case the birthparent has filed papers to withhold completion of the adoption but then fails to take any further action - resulting in tremendous strain on the adoptive parents. In my case the state of Alabama has paid 5! lawyers for the birthmother while I am financially sunk and the case remains unresolved four years later. I can not outbid the state of Alabama for my son, and the crazy motions filed against us keep us in financial and emotional upheaval. There are at least three of us in this situation and years into it still have no resolution. I respectfully request your consideration of looking into these cases where adoptions remain pending for years and years and the courts refusal to allow finalization simply because the birthparent does nothing. Thank you for your time - this would be a real eye-opener for those considering adoption. Sincerely,Here I posted my name, address and telephone numbers

Amen!! I am happy to see that just maybe this will get some recognition. I believe people do not know the heartache we suffer when an adoption is not final. I myself cannot believe how long this has been going on. It is a wonderful idea to get the media's attention to let the world know the absolute unfairness in some adoption situations. Please if possible pm me - I will also gladly send something to dateline...-
