Hi thought Wisconsin should be represented here too.
How many of you are in the waiting/matching time?
Any referals from Wisconsin being presented to you?
We have been waiting for "A LONG" time! Seems by the time we are aware of any kids, the County S/W has already made her decision as to where the child will be placed and because "prodical" is you need X amount of studies in order to find the best match the send out an e-mail to all the regional adoptive workers :grr:
Rarely do they update the Wisc. web site and the majority of children there are from Milwaukee. And if anyone knows how Milwaukee works....need I say more?
Would like to hear from others in Wisc. that are in the searching process and to know how it is going.
Good Luck
Hi Robin,
We're in the inquiry stage now too, we live in Madison. Have you had any luck with any referrals? If so, did the referral come from your worker's email listing or from a regional office? I heard that SWs first look at homestudies on file, and if they don't find a family then they enter the kids on the email list, and finally if they can't find a family they put the kids on the WI website.

Hi,
We have our study in Milwaukee and have had 2 referals recently. Otherwise "nothing". But much has to do with your worker and if she's on top of things to get you the information. We have been looking out of state for awhile now and after many inquires, cover letters and follow ups we now have 3 different situations that we are contimplating. It's been a long year of looking and advocating!! Have you had any referals? What type of children are you looking for?
Hi,
We're in WI too! Took one good look at the WI system and ran!!! For us, the distance and travel seemed minor compared to our system. As you can see in our siggy, we were blessed with a healthy 2 day old girl after only a 2 month wait!! PM me if you want to know more

I'm in WI too, near Madison! I've completed the adoption of six kids via state foster care here in Dane County. I am getting my first homestudy approved outside of foster care, and am hoping to adopt some waiting kids! There are some kids on wiadopt.org that I really have my eye on! But my s.w. said they get a lot of kids that they don't put up on the website. She said Milwaukee puts everyone up right away, but in Madison, they try not to put kids up unless all other resources are exhausted. She feels I'll have a match fairly quickly, since I'm looking into older kids!

Hi, I'm in Milwaukee county too. We want to do our 2nd adoption in the next few months & are wondering how hard or easy it is to get older babies from the county system. We did an international adoption from Haiti thinking it would be faster & easier than from the state, but it turned out to take over a year & the baby we thought was healthy & normal has turned out to have lots of special needs. I'm starting to get over the anger & resentment about that & looking ahead. This time we'd like a healthy black baby girl between 6-9 months so she's old enough for them to see if she's on track developmentally (though I know no one vcan predict future problems) & young enough that she'll be home before she's a year old. I'm wondering where to get started- does anyone know how possible this is & what agencies would be the best to go through?
