In the last few hours, Ive been getting requests via PM and email about marketing adoption related products on our site Җ the argument is being made that we are allowing the marketing of bracelets and t-shirts made by/sold by our members to be marketed so these people feel they should have a right to do the same thing.
Sadly, this is the reason why we dont allow retail URLҒs our members would share them and businesses would see that as an invitation to market their product/service via our site.
So, from this point on ֖ we are going to strictly enforce the No Marketing of Products of Services, regardless of your vested interest in the product or serviceӔ portion of our Terms of Service.
I know this will make some of you angry and while I do understand and empathize with your frustration, we have to make sure that our site remains a positive place for those touched by adoption to come visit and seek support ֖ and not a marketing tool/advertising site for businesses looking to make a buck.
This does not mean you can no longer share cool products with other members please continue to do that, but it does mean that threads created for the sole purpose of marketing a product/service and asking members to PM you for contact information will be deleted and moderation will take placeօthis is regardless of whether you have a vested interest or not.
Let's see if I understand this correctly.
If there is a post about cleaning your house. I can post that I endorse PineSol and tell the person to contact me.
But if I start a thread only for telling about PineSol, that one will be deleted?
Sounds fair!

See, PineSol is kinda of a bad example, but as far as examples go, its pretty spot on.
If there is an open dialogue on the forums and you feel that you have a suggestion to help a poster – then yes, that’s ok.
But, to create a thread for the sole purpose of marketing a product or endorsing a product is where we’re going to draw the line.
I know it’s a bit hard to understand – but we’re really skating close to the line in a lot of places and to protect the integrity of our forums as a place for support without all the marketing jazz, we really have to enforce rules across the board.
Selective rules enforcement is a problem – people feel they aren’t treated fair and it causes discontent and unhappiness among members…this way, everyone follows the same rules and everyone is held to the same standard.
