Oh my gosh. Am I EVER going to be able to scrap on a regular schedule again? I love to do it, but am having difficulty finding time! We need a supportive/motivational/competitive thread here! Scrappers - UNITE! Where are you in the process?
My son is 1 year old. I have filled one book, started on another, but am doing milestones/themes randomly.
I finally grouped ALL the printed pics I had last week. They are organized into each month, and I am slowly going through them, picking out ones to scrap with, and putting the rest into photo albums.
Once in a while, I put on a pot of coffee in the evening (of course, I do not drink straight coffee, so I have to soften it with a good dose of Bailey's! - the only alcohol I drink now, and we're talking only once a month or so), and start drinking it around 7 or 8 so I can stay awake and scrap by myself.
My sister is coming over tomorrow and spending the night, and once the kids are all tucked in, we're going at it.
I've just found out our public library offers free scrapping once a month in their auditorium. And I've always wanted to go to a scrapfest at a scrap store, but I guess I'm a little shy (and still very hesitant to leave my son on weekends or evenings).
Anyone want to check in and admit where they are and lend support to others?
(Diane, LOVE the new Avatar by the way! Very cute.)
Admit where I am??? I am a miserable scrapping failure, that's where I am! I have, if I recall, 4-5 pages to show for the 7 1/2 mos. Woobie has been with us. I have 10 million pictures however. (sigh...)
Amazing that I am that far.
I have an idea that perhaps would work for you and your scrapping buddies:
My friends and I try to get together to scrap and rotate who hosts. We actually have jointly paid into lots of fun equipment like the sizzix sets, etc. Now all their kids are old enough to paly with one another. I on the other hand still have a little guy. Anyway, about 2 mos ago my friends CM rep. offered to have a party at her house. Since everyone my friend was going to invite already knew the drill, the rep. brought all her stock so we could shop at will, and we all brought a snack and sat at tables she put up. When we needed a supply, we went and got it and put it on our tab for the end of the night. It was come and go as you please. The CM rep even brought all her stuff and scrapped with us. She brought her jammies and everything. What could work with that arrangement is that you could switch out watching the kids, hire a few teenagers to be in the home with you and you'd be able to keep an eye out on the little ones if you felt the need.
Anyway, it was long enough for me to get my 4-5 pages done. I did leave woob home with dh, so I didn't stay as long as I'd like to have.
Good luck. Let me know what you come up with.

I second what Emster said about the "miserable scrapping failure" part. The last time I scrapbooked was Aug. 2005. Then my scrapping friend moved, then we moved. I have, however, made my daughter's birth announcements with all my scrapbooking things, and was pleased with the finished product (mailed off this week, finally!), so I will count that.
My friend sent me a scrapbook, paper, and stickers for my daughter's first album. I just told her yesterday that is my second next project on the list. The first one is to hang things on the walls in this house, especially in the baby's room.
My place in scrapbooking is PRE-organization. We moved into this house just a week before our daughter was born. So now I am really looking at where I want my scrapbook things. I want easy to access and put away, so I can scrap for a little at a time. And I finally ordered some photos from the digital camera, so I can use them!
Have you ever gone to a bed and breakfast to scrapbook for a weekend? A couple friends have done that, and they get a lot done. But, that would mean leaving the kiddos at home.
I am eager to get started again!
Please keep posting on how you are doing on the scrapping! It will keep me motivated!
Actually, i'm finally making progress! This said, it has taken me all year to get my stuff together and I finished my grandson's and i am half way through my son's. I have to wait till my 6 year old son goes to bed around 8:00 p.m. and then i scrap for 1-2 hours. Not as long as i would like but when i finally declared these were christmas gifts, i had to get in gear! I have arranged for a crop gettogether next saturday. I have actually never cropped with others so i would be interested in hearing what all those of you have, have done when you crop together.
WLD, I like cropping with others. I do it best when I have my pictures organized ahead of time. I get to see others' ideas, and when I get stuck, a friend can give a good idea. We also share the tools we have. It can be a good way to keep up!
i scrap one night a week with a friend. we head out to a local scrap store and they let us sit for free at one of their tables. of course they hope we will spend money. we get about 2 hours in then the store closes. i wish i could get more in, but with kids this is the best we can do for now.
we (my scrap friend & I) each have several kids, so this is what we do. we make blank pages, usually from a kit, then copy them several times, enough for each kid. by copy, i mean we make the same page several times. then we take them home and put our pics on them later.
we are way behind, but we keep working at it. last year for my new years resolution, instead of saying im gonna lose weight, cause that never happens, i decided i would scrap all my pics for that year only. i did it and i am trying to do the same this year. each kid has a book and i have a family book that i will get to keep. cause the kids will take theirs eventually and i dont want to be left with nothing!
so i still have shoeboxes of old photos, but at least its not getting any worse. i love digital cause there is no guilt piles laying around getting mixed up. every sunday i print like crazy on my home printer and try to scrap those photos during the week. its not that hard cause the pages are already made so they go on quickly then i have to journal. about 2x's a year i got on a rampage and make dozens of blank pages in a weekend and then use them the rest of the year.
i love scrapbooking!!!!:cloud9:
