Has any one seen the show John edward cross crountry?
read a bio on him. He is catholic which I didnt know that. He wrote a book called
Practical Praying: Using the Rosary to Enhance Your Life. Has anyone read this book?
when he prepares for a show He says this
''Meditation usually involved breathing exercises, getting my energy moving and praying the rosary for all those that will be coming through from the other side as well as those for whom the messages are being received. My preparation is fairly simple and just helps to center me and get me in the right frame of mind for each session.""
I love the show. but i am on the fence with what he clames to commincate with the other side. has anyone else seen the show? Do you belive he can communicate with people who has passed away?
what do you all think?
Hmmmm. Didn't know he was Catholic.
I'm really not sure how I feel about communicating with "the other side". My first thought is that I think most of those people are just bigger-than-life crystal ball "readers" who like to hoax people.
Yet, praying to the saints for intercessory help (St Dymphna, in particular, the past few weeks for sleep help for the babe!) is communicating with the dead. So how different is that?
I guess the difference is that I don't usually hear a direct response. Maybe my ears or mind just aren't as receptive as his......

I used to watch his show a lot a few years ago when it first came out. Haven't seen it in quite a while. I read his first book, which was about how he got started. It was okay. I remember that he is Catholic. I haven't seen his new book. Have you read it? Did you like it?
Like Stork, we pray to the saints, and she said she didn't hear anything back, which I think would be most of us. I think some people are more receptive and can "hear" back. I don't think the "supernatural" is weird like some think, I think it is part of our world and we don't recognize it much. When my husband was younger, he woke up one day and "knew" his grandfather had died, later his mom told him the news. That is one small example.
Anyway,
let me know what yout think of the book. For the rosary, I always wish I could do it better. I just don't have the attention for it. Sometimes I can pray a decade at once. I felt better after reading that one of the saints said it wasn't for her either (one of the St. Therese's I think?).
This is just a little book, but its very powerful. John Edward tells about some of his personal history that relates to prayer and him being Catholic. And it also has a chapter on how to pray the rosary the traditional way and how to pray the rosary with stating your personal intentions before each decade. My favorite part is the CD (included in the back cover) that I listen to in the car at times that helps me pray while I am driving.
I know that there are a lot of hoax mediums out there usually with the big neon hand in their storefront window waiting to take your cash. But I honestly believe that John Edward is the real article. I saw him in one of the gallery setting shows last year. I went with a friend of mine who is also Catholic. We were not read, and I can't make anyone believe just by telling you someone else's readings, but we walked out on cloud nine just feeling closer to those we personally lost by seeing others read- if that makes sense.
My brother passed on when he was 19 from suicide. I can tell you that the week prior I started to get that little voice in my head reminding myself to call him. You know that feeling.. 'I should call him and see how he is doing' feeling. I was so busy getting ready to go back to school for my senior year that I couldn't seem to get to it. By the night before he died, I was practically in a panic to reach a pay phone and was answering out loud in response to my thoughts "all right! all right! I will call him as soon as I get to my dorm!! I promise!!" (And I did but there was no answer so I thought -darn it! now I have to wait until the morning) And then he died overnight. But, I really think from what John Edward describes - that's the kind of "voice" he hears in his head when he does readings.
I think everyone has that ability to a certain extent, if you pay attention and listen to your instincts, little voice, whatever you want to call it. He can just do this so much better through prayer and meditation that he is able to communicate with souls.
I find it hard to be Catholic and a skeptic because 1) the little story about myself I just told and 2) all those people that have visions of the Holy Mother, or Saints, or the happenings of Fatima, Medjegorie, etc. I just happen to believe in miracles, spiritual messages, and gifts from God more than empirical scientific proofs.
The book is great! I would recommend it to anyone - Catholic or not. If you can't find it in the bookstore- look on amazon, I would think they would have it.
Good Luck!
Anne :)
