Hi Rebecca:
You really have my creative wheels turning. I love scrapbooking and adding acid free stickers to the pages that I put photos of my familiy on. I have some friends that "journal" along with the photos by writing in information about the occasion. I have titled a page every now and then. I use templetes to design the photos in the shape of hearts, stars, ovals, circles, rectangles, etc. I use acid free paper in solids and prints. Some of the papers are designed for a particular holiday or fun family activity. The papers add a decorative touch and save time. They are really great.
Do you use acid free products Rebecca? What type of products do you use? Do you have a manner in which to keep your pages from aging? Are photos used extensively or does a Lifebook contain more journaling or does it vary?
So interested in learning more. Thanks so much and thank you for helping others with their meaningful keepsakes.
Hi Sabra,
Thanks for your post! Yes, I do use all acid free products and many of the same items you described. I am a scrapbook store's dream customer!! My life books, though, are a little different than my other "scrapbooks" in that they tell a story, rather than just a collection of photos and/or journal notes of different occassions. That's great, too, of course! But I like to create a lifebook with a particular stage or theme in mind-- and then tell the story, page by page, with the words and pictures (and stickers.. and templates.. and all that other fun stuff) along side of every page. For example, are you familiar with Jamie Lee Curtis' book "Tell Me Again About The Night I Was Born"? I mimicked her book for a lifebook for my daughter and called it "Tell Me Again About The Night I Came Home" and each page I wrote something like: "Tell me again about how you got the call from the attorney at 7:00 in the morning, right when you were brushing your teeth.. and you almost didn't answer it.." Then on that page I put a picture of stuff (some silly, some serious) that goes along with that.. do you know what I mean?
But as far a products go, yes it is important to use high quality acid free products (like Creative Memories products) since we all hope these books will be around for a VERY long time!!
Does anyone else have any product suggestions?

Hi, I'm new here, but I would say as far as products go to definitely use something that is acid free. Also to make sure that you tell the stories along with the pictures. After all it really is the stories that make the pictures meaningful. I do use primarily Creative Memories supplies. I like their quality and there guarantee.
I am interested in creating an adoption "storybook" for my son. He is 2 1/2 now. I would love to make him one that tells his story. I was also adopted and remember well a book that my parents read to me. It was called the Chosen baby. It wasn't until I could read myself that I realized the book didn't really have my name or my brothers in it! LOL. Anyway I would love to make my ds a story with his name and his pictures in it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
