I do not know how to deal with this situation, any advise would be so appreciated.
I have a 9 yr. old MR child that also has numerous other diagnosis. He has been with us for 1 1/2 yrs. He was not trained when he came, no one took the time or felt it was possible. At this point he is doing fairly well. He has good days and not but overall is 80% daytime trained. The problem is at night. He still wears pull ups to bed and will have a bowl movement. He will proceed to put his hands in the pull up and then lick his fingers etc. etc. He has sensory issues but taste and smell is not one of them.
I have dealt with the smearers and the results of sexual abuse etc. but never one that would consume. Sorry if I am offending anyone...if anyone has any ideas as to why he is doing this or has had any experience, please reply. I am feeling very helpless and at a loss in understanding

that might help
You have your handsful that is for sure. have you ever thought of putting him on miralax, and giving it to him in the morning, it works fast and this way his **'s are in the morning and not at night? another thing you could try is maybe finding like one peice pajamas like the blanket sleepers where he won';t be able to get his hands into his pants, with some of our clients that have been through this they have even used sleep medications to basicaly put them to sleep at night. But the best thing that worked for us was the miralax in the morning.. Colace doesn't work, honestly there is no other stool softner out there that is as good as this stuff. I wish you the best of luck...
You are very special..
