Following is a summary from a Bulgarian friend of mine of a TV program in Bulgaria. So, there is hope things will start to move along soon. If I hear anymore, I will pass it on.
Kay
Today, on 30. November 2006 in the national television BTV was present
the shocking story of
15 years old Bulgarian orphan child. He personally send a letter to
the journalist , try to find help. His story is almost the same like
the story of thousands Bulgarian orphan children.
Hi spend all his live in the orphanages, moved from one to another.
But also, he have the incredible chance to meet Spanish family who
want to adopt him.
This is happen more then 3 years ago. The family prepare hole the
necessary documents
immediately end start waiting the permission of the Ministry of Justice.
Until they wait to start the adoption procedure they visit the boy
many times, send him presents ,call him on the phone. The boy and the
family belief that one day they will by one family.
But the years pass end absolutely noting happened . At the despair the
boy sending letters to the Minister of Justice for help, saying that
this adoption is his only chance to have a family and home. In the
letters he explain, that now is almost 15 years old end if adoption
not happened he will go on the street after 3 years. Because hi never
receive any answer hi send a letter to national television BTV.
The national television BTV was made broadcast live with the boy, the
director of the orphanage, the psychologist end with one girl, orphan
in the absolutely same position, whit a Greek family.
In the TV studio to comment the case was invited Mr Bogomil
Gerasimov, Spokesman of “Family for every child” Association.
The association “Family for every child” was founded spontaneously, in
a result of the indignation and worries of a group of intellectuals
that cannot accept with indifference the destiny of thousands of
Bulgarian children left in orphanages.
Mr Bogomil Gerasimov was comment case this two children and all
system of Intercountry Adoptions in Bulgaria. Mr Gerasimov required
the resignation of the Intercountry Adoptions Council in MOJ. The
national television BTV invitated MOJ to give an answer on Monday.
Hi Kay and Everyone,
The attorney that handled our adoption was in the states this past week and she said the same. She thinks things will begin moving very soon due to the pressure of the EU. They have already started posting available children that are registered that are special needs but she thinks that shortly healthy children will be added to the list. In the mean time if anyone would be interested in learning more about the special needs children available - you can email me at cooldrop@mebtel.net
Let's hope this is all promising news for Bulgaria. It is a beautiful country with beautiful children!!!
God Bless,
Jan
