Hello!
This is my first post here, and I am excited to see so many are going to Kyrgz to adopt!
My husband and I started our process in November, with the intent on going to China. Howver, with these new restrictions, we (or rather I) don't qualify anymore. With some heavy thinking we decided that our child was just not meant to come from China. Sure, we were told "If you really push it, we can make the deadline."
I just didn't feel that was the way to make a family.
I don't want to rush, I want to savor each moment of conqur over each dossier document. Not, one down gimme the next.
Alas I digress, as I am rather computer illiterate, I am having a difficult time finding the information I really really really wanna know. Even ou SW doesn't know as the program is THAT new for our agency. (Of which I will sing thier praises should anyone ask.)
So, travel time? I have heard and read everything to 6 weeks in country to just 1 week.
Cost? It seems sites are guarding this with their life.
I don't want to know what you specifically spent, I just want a comparable.
And, if anyone has completed their adoption, how long was it from your dossier in country to a referral?
And how long after your referral and acceptance did you travel to bring your child home?
OO thats long winded, very sorry.

OK, I'll try to answer your questions, and I will bluntly tell it as I know it.
I used the agency that started the Kyrg program. I took two trips, 5 weeks apart, 10 days the first and 7 days the second. This is the law in Kyrgyzstan, not sure how other agencies get around it.
I got my first referral before my dossier was in the country, I had to decline her for medical reasons, then received the referral of my daughter on July 14, travelled on July 24, and went back to pick her up in Sept. It was 7 months start to finish, with a slowdown in there. I would estimate around $32,000.
My daughter is from an orphanage in Tokmok, 1 hour outside Bishkek, 6 kids came home from her orphanage in Sept, and they are all doing great, healthy and adorable. You can se pics of my daughter on this forum, thread is "my Kyrgyzstan baby". Good luck!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. I am using a one trip agency. The current Kyrgyz law only requires 1 trip although this will probably change as time goes on. The number of trips is all dependant on the referral/acceptance/court process. We will accept our referral before travel and our in-country POA will complete all of the court proceedings on our behalf. The adoption will be finalized before we travel. We will spend 2 weeks in country. From what I understand, this is how China does it too, hence there being only one trip there. Most Eastern European & Central Asian countries are requiring two trips and Kyrgyzstan will most likely follow suit eventually. I, too, have often questioned why the differences and I am told that it is an agency preference.
BTW - I have seen the pics of your daughter and she is BEAUTIFUL!!
