Hey all,
I've been playing with the idea of looking for my b-relatives,I'm born and raised mostly in Quebec,Montreal,my a-mom is Belgian and divorced my dad when I was 13yo and took me to Belgium.
I'm looking on all the sites and stuff, and they are always asking for money, are this agencies to be trusted, and I'm a single mum myself with little money. How can I try?Where to start,my Dad gave me a name of a doctor, but he 's passed on,so where to start?
Do you know your birth name? The first step I took was to get my Birth Name released to me along with the other basic information, height and weight when born, non-identifying info about birth mom and birth dad.
Once I got this information I had it placed on the Post Adoption Registry, and waited for a match.
To get the information I am talking about you'll have to contact to Provincial Government. At least that is what I had to do here in Alberta.

Do you know your last name?
Knowing the Hospital where you were born should help your case. Having said that, the fact that you live in Belgium might make it more of a hassle, but if you want to know bad enough, you'll forward on through all the red tape.
I'd check out the Provincial Government webpage or even the Municipal Government webpage to see who to email or fax.
Best of luck to you BrennaMiriam
I'll keep on eye on this thread to see how you are making out.
