Hello,
I'm a new member in this forum. I recently contacted a few members asking for agency referrals. I am just begining this process and I have may questions about almost every aspect. ;-) Many of you responded. Thank you!!
I'm wondering if I could get additional feedback from this group on Angel Adoptions and or Gentle Care adoptions. If anyone has used them, please PM me (I realize you can't post directly to this board). I would love to hear from anyone, but especially from AA parents who have adopted.
Thanks in advance, Sherri
Hi, we are an AA couple that has adopted 2 children and were recently contacted by a young woman who we met face to face in our state. we are not ready to have a 3rd child yet and she is due! Are you still looking to adopt? She has an atty and birthfather is on board. The baby is a girl and if you are you still looking please contact me! She insist on an AA Christian couple. We would but we have a 2 & 4 year old and it's just not the right timing for us. Please contact me ASAP! cudawson@yahoo.com

I am also an AA in the research stages of infant adoption. I am having a hard time chosing an agency. If anyone has info on an agency good or bad please pm me. I am in Southern California. Also, how difficult is it to adopt across state lines? I have only been looking in California but I am wondering if I should broaden my choices.

My DH is CC and I am AA and we have been waiting over a year with our agency to adopt an AA or biracial infant/toddler. We are so disappointed. We know there are toddlers out there in need of loving homes. Any advice for agencies in the Philly area? PM me.
there is a S Cal support group that is run in LA (Manhatten Beach) that has been helping me sort through this whole process. there are folks who have already adopted as well as newbies like us. Yash runs it. drop her, or I, a line if you're interested.
PEACE
Shay
I am new to this site (but have spent weeks trying to find an african american adoption forum) and would love some information pertaining to adoption. I live in Maryland. Anything you could provide will be so appreciated.

What type of information are you seeking? I've adopted from the foster care system as a private agency... both were infants. We have a great group of ladies in all stages of adoption who would love to give advice. :flower:

Sleeplvr, thanks so much for responding. We are going to do domestic adoption through an agency versus the state. The reason I decided to go with an agency is because I don't think we can handle the uncertainty of foster to adopt right now, but would like to do it for my second child.
We want a baby now (or as soon as possible). We haven't started a home study but would like to submit an application this month to an agency. So far I have narrowed my choice to two agencies and Maryland, but it's such a big step that I am still unsure if I have covered all the bases. We are looking into adopting an AA infant. Any advice?
Part of my message was cut off... Our private adoption was quick. When we finished our paperwork our DD was waiting. We met her mom a couple of days before the 10 revocation period was up. We turned in our application the end of Feb 2005 and DD was born in May and we took placement in June 2005.
I think the best advice I can give regarding AA adoptions is to look for baby already born situations and use interim care if possible. We didn't want to take a baby home and then have to return him/her. But you do what is best for your situation.
am an AA single look to adopt an AA or biracial infant. I would love to get any agency recommendations

Hello: My DH and I are an African American couple just starting to look into adopting an African American child. Any recommendations on agencies via PM would be much appreciated! We are in So California. Looking to adopt a younger child (infant to age 5). Waiting on some info from the state and also considering private adoption. Thank you!
I am overjoyes to see so many AA seeking adoption. I can't express how wonderfully painless our experience was and I wish for everyone similar joys. Here's to welcoming your little one home sooner rather than later.
