Help,
I can braid my 3 yr. old daughters (AA) a little but I'm not great,:flowergift: it falls out after a couple of days or gets frizzy. Anyone have any good videos or books on braiding (cornrowing etc.) and how to keep it in for awhile?
There's a good book called "It's All Good Hair" that has some nice photos and pretty good directions for different braids. 3 year olds are busy people and it won't likely stay in for too long. You can wrap her head in a silk scarf with a little gel on the crown and it will last longer. Also try having to salon-done once or twice and maybe they can give you some good pointers. I'm getting pretty good at it but it's taken a while and a lot of mistakes before I got to this point. Our daughter is now 8 and her hair is way down her back. Braiding now stays in longer but she still gets those frizzies up near the hairline.

To keep it from getting frizzy, you have to wrap it up at night. A silk scarf tied snug-and then cover the scarf with a pair of her underpants. The underpants will keep the scarf from coming off at night. This will keep the style from getting frizzy. It really works, too.
I'm no good at cornrows. I truly wish I knew how to do it, though. I take her to the beauty shop to have it done. The local shop charges $50.00 to wash, dry & braid-and it lasts about 2 weeks (if you tie it up at night). I'm pretty good at regular braids & styles-but I do wish I knew how to cornrow
