Hi! We went to ped yesterday, and DS has RSV  .
Anyone have a baby who has had it? any advice?
Paula
Oh my gosh! I am so sorry. How old is your child?
I have had 2 friends whose babies had this. Will ask them for advice.

He is 5 mnths. old. He is still eating pretty well, so he has not had to into the hospital. ( Thank God for that!!!)
He is on meds and a breathing treatment, but ped says this lasts 4-6 wks.Yucky!!
Any advice would be very appreciated!
Thanks!
Ours was hospitalized with it last winter when she was 5 months old.... Advice?? Don't be afraid to bug the dr, and sit in the bathroom with hot shower running for steam..... and try not to let baby cry or get upset - that always aggravated T until she'd throw up...
Good luck - I'll be thinking of you!!
So sorry to hear. It sucks huge!!!
DS had rsv last month (4 months old) and at the same time my friends little man (6 weeks old) had it. Friends DS was hospitalized for a week 'cause low o2 levels. We managed to avoid the hospital.
I'm sure your dr told you to watch for signs of breathing distress and get in asap if you see something. (flared nostrils, chest caving around ribs)
Here's a bunch of things that we did that seemed to help:
We didn't use any meds except dimetab (at night) and tylenol (often).
Put saline drops in his nose then used suction to clear his nose several times day and night.
We would get the bathroom steamy with the shower then bath DS before bed.
Humidifier day and night in his room.
Elevated the crib matress or slept in infant rocker or swing (45 degree incline) or the really rough nights, I sat reclined and DS slept on my chest on his tummy.
Tried to keep the paci out of DS's mouth to help him breath better.
Gave him small sips of water (day and especially night) to moisten his throat to help control coughing.
We had it really rough for about 10 to 14 days then things looked up. Ask for help! My mom came for a couple days and kept the house in order while I tended to DS (he needed his mommy 24/7). My neighbour made supper for us. It all helped.
Good luck and I hope you see the bright side soon.
