I'm just starting to research the whole adoption process and I was searching the internet when I came upon a website that showed some of the children available for adoption. There I saw an adorable little 2 year old boy that just pulled at my heart after seeing him and reading his profile. I emailed the site and inquired if he was still available for adoption and he is.
I'm wondering if anyone here has seen a child available like that and actually been able to adopt him/her?
While I have not done it, I have heard of people who have. But, before you give your heart away:
1. research the agency the child is with. These forums are a great place to do that. Nothing is worse than a bad agency.
2. Does the country "work" for you? Do you meet their criterea to adopt from there? Can you handle the travel requirements?
3. What guarantee do you have that the child will still be available after you get your homestudy done, get your INS approval etc?
I do not mean to discourage you, and it can definitely work, but you really need to step back and make sure this will work for you. Usually the best process is to pick your country, then pick your agency, and lastly, pick your child.

All 7 of my kids were photolisted. You can write me privately and I could probably tell you about the site you are looking at & whether it is legite or not. I actually know some of the poeple that run some sites. PM me and I could tell you more.
Yes, you can adopt from a photolisting. However, please be aware that all children listed are not always up to date. In addition, there are some shady agencies so beware of that too. Good luck on whatever you decide.
Take care,
